Volvo’s most awaited model S90 will make its debut at Detroit Auto Show

Volvo’s new range-toping sedan S90 will be unveiled at 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January. Images of this upcoming model have already been released by Swedish brand itself. According to some sources, Volvo is teaming up with Microsoft to jointly introduce some new technologies in upcoming cars.

Volvo S90 will replace the old S80 large sedan. Because of new modular SPA platform, this 2017 model is going to be slightly bigger in terms of overall dimensions. Rear legroom is also expected to be increased over Volvo S80.
Volvo also released two shadowy renderings of this upcoming model, which includes its profile and rear look. Although these images do not show much but roofline, taillights and Thor’s Hammer headlights resemble the pictures of die-cast model of car, which previously leaked on internet.

Volvo XC90 and S90 will likely come with same powertrains. S90 will have the same engine as it is being expected in XC90. D4 and D5 generate 190 and 224 horsepower whereas, the petrol engine T5 will produce 254 horsepower, and T6 generates 320 horsepower.
Under the hood, it will have 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It will be paired to eight-speed transmission and optional Haldex All-wheel-drive. It is also expected that Volvo will eventually offer plug-in hybrid variant of S90 with 408 hp. Volvo’s new model in the market will face BMW 5 Series, new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Jaguar XF, and Lexus GS.
V90 is the most anticipated model of Swedish brand. Car enthusiasts are expecting many advanced technologies in this model considering it will be the new flagship product. Volvo S90 sedan will go on sale in next fall as 2017 model.
