2016 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S is Finally Unveiled

The face-lifted Porsche 911 Turbo S and Turbo have been finally revealed and will receive their first public appearance in January at Detroit Auto Show. These models of Porsche receive various upgrades for 2016 model year.

In line with face-lifted 911 Carrera and Carrera S, Turbo variants also receive several styling changes. It includes revised splitter, new front bumper, and modified LED indicators. All-new 20-inch alloy wheels are also a part of these changes.

One of the most important elements of Porsche 911 requires updating in order to secure its future. This core element is twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine that is fitted in both Turbo and Turbo S. The latter one receives 20bhp more than before that makes it 572 horsepower now whereas torque remains the same as before at 553lb ft. 911 Turbo for the meantime gets 532bhp.

The 911 Turbo S can reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and has top speed of more than 200mph whereas, 911 Turbo manages the same sprint in just 3.0 seconds and reach top speed of 199mph. With this performance gains, Porsche has also upgraded the fuel economy of both models, with cabriolet version now returning 30.4mpg and coupe variants returning 31.0 mph.

Both the 911 Turbo and Turbo S also received new, bigger steering wheel and an all-new touch-sensitive infotainment system. New options include radar based lane changing and a lift function that can raise the front spoiler by up to 40mm. It will allow the vehicle to deal with big speed bumps.

Both models are already on sale in UK. Prices for 911 Turbo start at $126,925 for coupe while 911 Turbo Cabriolet can be purchased for $135,766. The 911 Turbo S Cabriolet starts at $145,773 and Turbo S coupe is priced from $154,614. These models of Porsche face plenty of competition in sport coupe market especially from Jaguar F-Type R and Audi R8.
